Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Green Cat Renewables is currently developing its in-house capability for hydrogen and multi-technology project development support and requires an Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join the Engineering team in either the Edinburgh or Glasgow office.

The Role

  • Interpret User Requirement Specifications and write Functional Design Specifications.
  • Produce control and telecommunications architecture.
  • Develop / design the integration of control system(s) focusing on system compatibility and communication protocols.
  • Identify input and output schedules, develop control schematics, and carry out control panel design (PLC/DCS) and junction box layouts.
  • Carry out development, validation and verification of the architecture of SCADA servers and clients.
  • Lead the testing and validation of control systems, including functional testing (FAT / iFAT / SAT), and field trials to ensure they meet design specifications and operational requirements.
  • Design and review engineering work packages, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, data sheets, piping and instrumentation diagrams, mechanical package interconnection drawings.
  • Prepare various design calculations as required.
  • Specify instrumentation and control hardware ensuring functionality, material selection, and safety.
  • Review and check calculations, design models and drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned.
  • Prepare cost estimations.
  • Work with designers in other disciplines within the project to co-ordinate designs, specifications and requirements.
  • Work independently and take initiative to research information to complete tasks within the budgeted time.
